you shot me down bang bang

Kill Bill: Vol. 1
Directed by Quentin Tarantino

 Song: Lonely Shepard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBws-gApi0A)
 written by James Last
Performed by Gheorghe Zamfir

The texture this song has the combination of Western music and Eastern music as well. The reason why it's go those combinations because of the fighting style and characteristics the charters are. The character Beatrix Kiddo background or where the movie starts is in Texas, which is the western kick form the song. The eastern addition covers how this Beatrix Kiddo uses not only guns but she uses a samurai sword.

How this song makes me feel is some dark and mysterious. Since this song is a hybrid of rationality it reminds of myself. I don't really have one rationality, but I have many. I like to keep my personality interesting as well because I don't like to claim I'm normal or too weird I'm just unique like this song.

I think this song went perfectly with the scene because the song is very calm and yet intense. Every time I hear this song I would always think about Beatrix Kiddo. I would think about that insane training that she had to do with her master who is very strict and wise. At the end that training paid because she finally got her revenge with Bill who destroyed her life.

Film Noir

Film Noir it's a term created by the French that means "dark film".

One of the quotations I picked from the documentary is "The hero takes identity of the dead man, the most desperate thing you could do in a Film Noir," Paul Aurthur a scholar. What this quot means is the antagonist or hero tries to go though a normal life until something turns up. Like the film Body Heat a lawyer named Ned was just doing his usual actives of have sex with all these women. One day he met his match when he met Matty, she was being resistant at first because she's married then finally gave in. Ned has his satisfaction of being with Matty then she talks about how she hates her husband and wants to be with Ned. Ned wants to help Matty kill her husband, but then gets into deeper trouble as he is helping her. Relating the quote is Ned gets involve with Matty's life and ends up suffering the consequences.

One of the things film noir is known for is using lighting techniques. What the lights would do is use the lights in a way so the audience can see certain things on the actor.  The light also gives the actor the emotion that he or she is going though at the moment. The light would focus on the eyes to show their fear.

Body Heat 7 sins

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Ned had a lot of pride as a swinger and lawyer. He was so blind about his great abilities that it made him fall.

Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Ned had the desire to get Matty as his lover. The only way he could do that is by killing
Edmund Walker.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

The character Peter kept drinking two cups of iced tea. He is drinking more than anyone would do so.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

This is going on between Matty and Ned. They kept having sex every time they meet. Their relationship is more about sex than love as it is.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Ned kills Edmund to get what he wants

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Matty had the greed to change her husband's will to get all of the money from the will. Ned's greed towards Matty's body lead him to prison.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

Matty was too lazy to do the work herself so she get Ned to her dirty work of Killing Edmund.

What makes a good movie

I've been watching for a very long time I watched all kinds of styles and genres of films. There are films I loved and some I don’t like. My personal criteria of what makes a good film are ones that connects to the audience. What I mean by this is the audience must look at the film and think I could relate.  The movie that I chose is for example is Kevin Smith's film Clerks. This movie is about a store clerk that gets called in on his day off and gets into crazy situations as he's working at the convenient store. He finds out that his current girlfriend has given oral sex to many men, his ex girlfriend is getting married and his boss went to Vermont instead of taking over at noon like he promised. The way people can relate is people don't like to be called in during their day off and find crazy facts about the dysfunction of their love life. I can relate as well because I had crazy things happen to me and I laugh about later. It goes with my favorite term Schadenfreude which means happiness to the misfortune of others. When I write a comedy I say no one cares about someone having a good day. They want to see someone that had a lousy day and laugh about it. It's so funny how Dante(Brian O'Halloran ) as his day was bad it get worse and worse.
The other kind of movies I enjoy that touch up on history. I think of them as inside jokes if you don't know the history then you're not going to get the movie. The perfect example would be History of the World Part 1 by Mel Brooks. It make fun of world history in a clever way. There are some dark humor in it as well and I just enjoyed that. It also got me to do some of my research of the events they would make fun of then I would understand the joke.

Classic vs Remake Preview

Hello Readers,
First I have to say that I'm new to this blog thing and I know it's been around forever, but I just never got into it till now. Anyways, I'm planing to do a video blog called Classic vs. Remake. I realized that Hollywood has been doing so many remakes of some of the classic films. Some of them turn out good and some of them don't turn out so well. I'm going to watch both the films and give my opinion of the cons and pros of these films. I'm going to critic the storyline, theme, special effects, the cinematography, and the acting. Then give a result of the winner at the end. If you got any suggestions or comments feel free to do so. This is going to be the first blog episode! Coming soon.
